One man's lush, romantic and timelessly crafted pop is another's bland, sentimental, predictable radio-friendly product.
Made with the same band as his previous record, Hazy Sunshine, this Canadian singer-songwriter's songs are pleasant and undemanding but are so stripped of any raw passion that it's hard to think of them as anything more than slickly-produced background music.
All ten songs regurgitate tales of love and longing imbued with a twangy Nashville-country vibe like a watered-down version of Tom Petty.
The heart lifts, the sun shines, the soul shakes but, for this listener at least. there is nothing to make the pulse race.
