Review: 'FRAGILE BALANCE'
'Candlelight Sessions'

-  Label: 'Fluttery Records'
-  Genre: 'Ambient' -  Release Date: '28th November 2015'

Our Rating:
This album was recorded live in an empty art gallery in El Paso, Texas before an 'audience' consisting of hundreds of candles.

As you might expect, there are no grandstanding gestures or anthemic flourishes. The two acoustic guitarists, Cruz Lujen and Nico Cooper, focus instead on delicate ambient textures for nine meditative pieces.

It features old and new songs from their repertoire including When You Were Here, the first tune they wrote together and the track Fragile Balance which gave them their stage identity and accurately sums up their musical philosophy.

In one recent interview, Cooper said that the duo try to play the guitar like a piano which explains why the closing track is a cover of Ludovico Einaudi’s I Giorni

Anyone whose life feels too hectic and out of synch would surely benefit from 54 minutes in the company of this beautifully calming album.
