Review: 'WARDEN, THE'
'The Warden'

-  Label: 'Idol Records'
-  Genre: 'Alt/Country' -  Release Date: '8th January 2016'

Our Rating:
This is an album by boozers, for boozers.

Boozer-in chief ('The Warden') is Ward Richmond who was born and raised in East Dallas.

One time member of country outfit Boys Named Sue, Richmond and his merry band of cohorts now play Texas honky tonk with a dash of Southern Rock.

The 12 drinking songs stagger and stumble as a countrified memoir which he describes as "a tonked up autobiography with a little fiction thrown in for good measure".

The high energy tunes are designed more to kick ass than to generate quiet reflection.

As such, the resolve to turn over a new leaf and "quit cocaine and carousing" on County Line should therefore be taken with a generous pinch of salt.

Bullets a country duet with Madison King, is pretty well the only tune that departs from the hell for leather template.

Otherwise it's a relentless and ragged soundtrack for dedicated rabble-rousers and carousers everywhere.
