The real name of this particular doctor in the house is Yvan Gessler. He's from Switzerland and he bought his first sampler after hearing Portishead's Dummy.
Since then he's been looking for the perfect beat to create "that big, warm, vintage, sweet yet powerful, good sound".
He believes he can find it in instrumental trip-hop. After listening to the seven tunes on this album (I, II, III, IV, VI, VII & VIII) I'm not so sure.
They groove along trippingly enough but still sound to me like backing tracks in search of a vocalist.
