‘Whispers’ sets the tone and tempo for the debut five-tracker from Somerset metalcore muthas From Rust: chunky, stop/start guitars, snarling bass, even snarlier vocals and percussion that slams in explosive barrages, hit in a deluge of brutal nihilism.
There’s a semblance of a chorus and even a hint of melody on ‘Inside Out’, and ‘Grey World’ hits a fist-pumping punk vibe but for the most part, ‘Lost Sense of Life’ is a full-on, balls-out battery of dense metal din. There’s nothing cuddly or gentle about it, but there’s plenty of fury. They may be a new band, but they’ve got their sound nailed and a clear focus.
