'The Heavy Wait'

-  Label: 'Self Released'
-  Genre: 'Alt/Country' -  Release Date: '20th November 2016'

Our Rating:
For his second full-length album David Simard has written eleven twangy songs with shades of Dylan's Oh Mercy. If the budget had allowed. I'm sure Simard would have welcomed a production job by Daniel Lanois too.

The Canadian singer/songwriter's crooning style is backed by elegant instrumentation that includes piano, lap steel, trumpet and trombone.

Good Clean Water is relatively jaunty in this company but it's slow, brooding pieces like La Dee Da and Superior that are most effective.

The moody and melodic songs effectively create a noirish setting that seems tailor made for lonesome drifters and solitary cowboys.
