Review: 'Rachel Alice Johnson'
'Lights On'

-  Album: '2am' -  Label: 'Independent'
-  Genre: 'Rock' -  Release Date: 'Feb 24th'-  Catalogue No: 'Independent'

Our Rating:
Gritty and sexual, ‘Lights On’ is the powerful new single from Rachel Alice Johnson. Already building something of a following in her native Scotland, Johnson is certainly a writer who knows how to get you attention. From the sexually explicit lyrics to the suggestive, pulsing rhythms, this is a well-constructed and ear catching track from beginning to end.

It bodes well for the rest of her latest EP, also out now, which finds her on similarly mischievous form. Titled ‘2am’, it’s a collection which shows real bravery, putting herself out there in ways many other songwriters might not. However, her skilful arrangements and tight vocal show that this is more than an attention grab, but the work of a thoughtful writer who knows what she’s doing.
