Review: 'Coast To Coast'
'The Length of a Smile (EP)'

-  Label: 'Fox Records'
-  Genre: 'Rock' -  Release Date: '24th March 2017'

Our Rating:
Their lead guitarist may be called Adam Edge, but thankfully, Coast to Coast have nothing in common with U2 – beyond their capacity for stadium-sized songs, that is. On this six-track EP, the Birmingham quintet demonstrate a knack for driving, anthemic, poppy, punky, alternative rock.

Keiran Hyland’s vocals do take a little bit of adjustment, and may prove to be an acquired taste. They’re not bad, just different, and convey a certain honesty and sincerity. What’s more, they certainly help distinguish Coast to Coast from the countless other melodic alt-rock acts kicking about at the moment (and over the last however many years).

The stripped-back title track, which draws the curtain on the EP, finds Hyland baring his soul and channelling every last drop of emotion through a raw vocal delivery against a sparse acoustic backing. It’s highly effective, and while Coast to Coast aren’t exactly doing anything new, they’re doing it pretty well.
