All the way from Los Angeles, California, violinist and songwriter Chris Murphy, is a tireless performer of Celtic, gypsy, jazz, roots and post-punk music.
His latest album is a 10-song live solo set recorded on a rainy night at a small theatre in Boise, Idaho.
Murphy has spoken of feeling in his element on stage, enjoying the spontaneity of the moment and relishing the opportunity to improvise. “To me, the music is liquid, and I’m looking to have some kind of experience.” he says.
The whoops and cheers of the audience indicate that this particular live experience was both dynamic and energizing.
With his down to earth charm and genuine empathy for the working man, Murphy comes across like a rustic Eddie Cochran.

Many songs reflect a restless, even a reckless devil may care, spirit. On Bugs Salcido he concedes that "I might die young but I'll go in style" and he also sings of "Jumping off the Last Bridge that I have burned".
This refusal to settle for a life of quiet desperation injects the traditional roots of his music with an existential edge.
