Review: 'SAILING STONES'
'She's A Rose EP'

-  Label: 'Keep Her Lit'
-  Genre: 'Indie' -  Release Date: '9th February 2018'

Our Rating:
Jenny Lindfors writes from the perspective of someone drifting and searching for stability. She is half Irish and half Swedish but is based in Bristol in the UK and takes her stage name from the sailing stones that move slowly and mysteriously across the dried lake bed of Death Valley in California.

Her rich, sultry voice has a hint of bluesy torch songs. At base the four tracks on the EP are simple piano ballads but the lush orchestrated arrangements give them a greater depth and refinement.

"Lately I feel that I'm falling apart" she sings in the title track and in Sit Silent the disorientation is expressed in the lines "Don't recognise this place/Don't even know my own face".

The Blazing Sun is the debut single, a love song couched in metaphorical language where the sun warms yet blinds our visions.

The soulful and melodic Into Space captures best the soothing textures of Lindfors' voice, a quality which firmly anchors the songs on this assured and highly promising debut.
