Review: 'PINK GREASE'
'THIS IS FOR REAL'

-  Album: 'THIS IS FOR REAL' -  Label: 'MUTE'
-  Genre: 'Pop' -  Release Date: '14th June 2004'

Our Rating:
PINK GREASE are exactly what their name suggests – glam, groovy and retro – it’s rock with bubblegum lyrics and a hardened, hard-oned, sleazoid edge edge. Lead singer Rory sounds like Mick Jagger and looks like Billy Idol crossed with the New York Dolls!

Confused? You may be! Pink Grease are like nothing you’ve heard before and everything that’s so good about the British music scene all rolled into one. The highlight of this album for me has to be their first single release, "Fever", but all twelve tracks have a sound with potential to be addictive.

I wouldn’t say that Pink Grease are the future of rock & roll but they’re a lot of fun and an interesting alternative to the art school retro that seems to be filling the indie charts and the NME this year. Pretentious? Definitely – but all the better for it!
