Review: 'MIA AND JONAH'
'Spin As One EP'

-  Label: 'Self Released'
-  Genre: 'Alt/Country' -  Release Date: '7th September 2018'

Our Rating:
Home is where the heart is for country-folk duo Mia Mustari and Jonah Blumstein (from Hawaii and the East Coast, respectively) who met in San Francisco in 2003. Their fourth release comes after having become proud parents in 2012.

Lyrical themes of the six sleepy tunes revolve around family life, love of nature and "a collective coming-together for our world to find its way back home". If this outpouring of affection for each other and the planet as a whole sounds a little cheesy, well that's because it is.

To create the full effect of the sweet harmonies and warm, melodic arrangements the couple are assisted by Steve DiStanislao on drums, Seth Ford-Young on bass and vocals, violinist Alan Grubner, and banjoist Chris Pandolfi on the title track. Blumstein plays guitar, harmonica, dobro, mandolin and cello.

The mellow vibe of the 30 minute EP glides by without being concerned to make any strong statements. The aim seems to be to convey peaceful, easy feelings in the listener.
