Review: 'Blue River'
'Lie Next To Me'

-  Genre: 'Rock' -  Release Date: '8th November 2019'

Our Rating:
This ‘4 piece indie surf punk band from Cornwall’ boast ‘solid rhythms, catchy melodies and vocal harmonies to create a sense of pleasing indie surf perfection, with the right amount of dirtiness to keep you satisfied’.

Me, I can’t get no satisfaction at the best of times, and I don’t need dirtiness to help me in my quest. The press pitch informs me that ‘the song is about trying to get your mate out on a night out, but people are holding that person back and you are starting to see less and less of your mate, it’s kinda saying, the grass could be greener on the other side, take a leap of faith and see for yourself’. As the mate who’s likely to withdraw, the mate who always went home because he had study to do instead of pints after work, who was too skint to go out for years, who had stuff to do like a novel to write. So that don’t impress me much, and screw peer pressure.

‘Lie Next To Me’ isn’t especially surfy or punky, and is more middling grunge-tinged indie. It’s melodic and nice enough, and the guitars are kinda fuzzy and it’s got a hook and all, but… well, it’s middling and ultimately forgettable.
