Review: 'Slow Day, The'
'Home'

-  Genre: 'Indie' -  Release Date: '17th February 2020'

Our Rating:
The Slow Day are a three-piece indie-rock act from Manchester. There’s no shortage of indie-rock acts anywhere, especially not in Manchester, but these guys have garnered airplay on stations across the UK, France, America, Canada and Australia, and ‘Home’ gives an indication as to why.

There’s a soulful grit to Adam Moss’ vocal, which is delivered from the heart, instantly setting it apart from the sea of synthetic ballads. And after a soft opening, around halfway through, this song of separation and sadness goes big – but without losing the emotional sincerity, and falling to the cliché of area rock.

It’s perhaps because they’re not completely fresh-faced and expectant that they’re able to carve a song that oozes experience, coupled with a songwriting craftsmanship that simply doesn’t happen overnight.
