Review: 'LAS KELLIES'
'Suck This Tangerine'

-  Label: 'Fire Records'
-  Genre: 'Punk/New Wave' -  Release Date: '27th March 2020'

Our Rating:
Las Kellies are an Argentinian grrl duo comprising Cecilia Kelly (bass, guitars, vocals) and Silvina Costa (drums, percussion and vocals).

Recorded at home in Buenos Aires, this is their fifth album.

Their sound is a danceable mix of garage, funk punk and dub; imagine a politics-light version of Gang Of Four.

The minimalist lyrics are in elementary level English with the emphasis more on hitting the right groove than making any profound statements.

Their philosophy is summed up in the lines to Matrixland: "You don't need to be wise /you don't have to be smart/you listen to the beat/you just shut up and dance!"

It's so uncomplicated and unchallenging that the album doesn't do really enough to hold your attention throughout. It's entertaining but a four track EP would have worked just as well.
