Review: 'REVEREND SHAWN AMOS, THE'
'Blue Sky'

-  Label: 'Put Together Music'
-  Genre: 'Blues' -  Release Date: '17th April 2020'-  Catalogue No: 'PTM-00008'

Our Rating:
Shawn Amos is an Americana singer-songwriter and native of LA but for this record he gathered his congregation and headed into the hills of Texas.

His fellow traveller were his band, The Brotherhood, who are drummer Brady Blade, bassist Christopher Thomas and guitarist Chris “Doctor” Roberts. The slick playing of these gents makes the record very much a collaborative effort. Amos says: “This is the first time I’ve had the space to try to be more of a singer-songwriter within the confines of the blues.”.

Also along for the ride were the blues and gospel singer, Ruthie Foster, who sings backing vocals on Troubled Man, Kenya Hathaway and, for the final track, The Mudbug Brass Band.

That closing song is called Keep the Faith, Have Some Fun and confirms the group's mission to "spread a little joy" in the world. Amen to that.
