Review: 'Metro Trinity'
'Die Young'

-  Label: 'Optic Nerve Recordings'
-  Genre: 'Indie' -  Release Date: '1.5.20.'

Our Rating:
This is the first time this has been out as a 7" single rather than a 12" single and as such that means there are only three of the four songs on the original 12" single that came out on Cafeteria back in 1987. Metro Trinity were based in Manchester and the members would go on to be in Republica, The Doves and Soul Family Sensation among others. Metro Trinity are one of those fey anorak bands that completely passed me by first time round.

The a-side opens with Spend My Whole Life a slow paced fey indie song letting someone know that expectations of being loved for your whole life by one woman is unrealistic. This is gentle and is a bit Prefab Sprout.

Just Go is more upbeat even though it's about telling someone to get out of your lives and go, this sounds a lot like early Soup Dragons or Jazz Butcher.

On the B-side is Michael Fury a song apparently inspired by a James Joyce short story The Dead and it sort of reminds me a bit of the Smiths with far less annoying vocals and some really cool guitars this is a great song to mope about too. I personally think this is the best song on the EP and probably should have been the a-side.

If you like collecting obscure indie from the 1980's this is a cool buy find out more at https://opticnerverecordings.com/collections/new-releases/products/metro-trinity-die-young-7?variant=30308706648175
