Apostolis Armagos is a Greek composer whose eight short solo piano pieces are the result pure improvisation.
They give the impression of being fragments that could easily be worked into longer, more complex works.
The album lasts just 23 minutes yet despite, or perhaps because of, its relative brevity, Armagos communicates a fragile beauty.
It is said that misery loves company but the lonely piano here seems content to drift calmly, enjoying a state of romantic languor rather than desolation.
