Review: 'Short-Haired Domestic'
'A Song in Latin About The Importance Of'

-  Album: 'Comfortable Shoes' -  Label: 'Bandcamp'
-  Genre: 'Indie' -  Release Date: '8.7.20.'

Our Rating:
Short-Haired Domestic is the latest band/project from Tim Friese-Greene of Talk Talk production legend and his wife Lee Friese-Greene who used to be in Sidi Bou Said and this single comes for the forthcoming album that has every song in a different language!

A Song In Latin About The Importance of Comfortable Shoes stretches my schoolboy latin skills to the limit as the looped beats and keyboards backing are cut through with Lee's still glacial vocals that work really well in Latin and is perfect to shimmy around too in uncomfortable shoes as well as comfortable ones. The review copies of the single also has a shorter Radio edit that is fine for anyone with short attention spans but really the full version is preferable.

A Song In Hindi For Insomniacs is the second Hindi record I've reviewed since lockdown began and unlike Bhajan Bhoy this isn't music for a yoga workout, this being more sort of a hip hop breakbeat soundtrack to a Bollywood movie, it's certainly stranger than legendary Swedish Hindi singer Anita Livstrands fusions. This really makes me wonder what Icarus translates to in Hindi or if it is just the name she is singing. The string dub section feels like it's made to get us wobbling to it. The radio edit included with my copy strips out 4 minutes from the full version that means the long dub section is missing from the radio version.
