Review: 'China Bears'
'Jolene'

-  Label: 'Fierce Panda Records'
-  Genre: 'Indie' -  Release Date: '9th October 2020'

Our Rating:
So it’s not a cover of the Dolly Parton classic, but a sad song about separation where said song it a part of the soundtrack, with the opening line “Sat listening to ‘Jolene’, both crying in our underwear,” setting the scene.
Following on from ‘I’m Not Eating Like I Used To’ and ‘Statue Still’, ‘Jolene’ is taken from their forthcoming second EP ‘Statue Still’, due early 2021.

As you may probably expect from a band who’ve drawn comparisons to Death Cab For Cutie, The Walkmen, The Maccabees, Snow Patrol, and The National, it’s a piece of competent and solid melodic indie, but one that really doesn’t have any particularly distinctive features.
