The cutely named Bears In Trees are an emo garage band from South London.
After putting out a bunch of home-recorded self-released material, this is the debut label EP from the four non-threatening, non-macho sixth formers.
Their boys next door, nerdy but nice image has clearly struck a chord with their peers. This is evidenced by the fact that they have effortlessly built up an impressive online following since forming in 2015.
'Keep Me Safe' is described as being "about attempting to get better after falling apart." The four songs are built around the comforting premise that most daily problems can be resolved by prescription drugs, hot chocolate (or tea), changing your hair color and having good mates. None of these are guaranteed to counteract the pandemic but it's all good to know and refreshing in its down to earth-ness.
Only the suggestion that you could spend a day at the coast throwing rocks at passers-by could be construed as being subversive or anti-social.
All the songs come with accompanying videos where we see the lads larking about in the country, at the seaside, in a back garden and in an improvised living room.
It's the youthful celebration of being un-cool that makes Bears In Trees so cool.
