Review: 'Del Casher'
'The Italian Stallion'

-  Label: 'Org Music'
-  Genre: 'Soundtrack' -  Release Date: '17.7.21.'

Our Rating:
Released this year for the first time ever this is the soundtrack album that was meant to be used on a 1976 re-working of Sylvester Stallone's first movie The Party At Kitty And Stud's. Del Casher is best known as the inventor of the Wah Wah pedal as well as playing guitar with Elvis Presley.

As you'd expect of a soundtrack album this opens with the Italian Stallion theme a very brass led a semi re-working of the theme to Shaft it has similar elements but with vocals that have a bit of a Minnie Ripperton vocal feel as she extols the virtues or otherwise of said Stallion.

Three Girls in A Whirl gives an idea of the action this very mellow seductive jazzy soul is sound tracking. Flexing sounds like a very jazzy workout tune with lots of builds and some great brass stabs. Outside Walk continues the mellow vibe and should get the tress rustling nicely.

Shower Her With Love doesn't have any rushing water sounds instead we get floaty sax and some very gentle caresses from the horn section as I guess she's led into his Love nest.

Waiting has that trying to stay awake until our summoned feel to it, like interlude music or very 1970's style sitcom music it almost sounds like it could have been used on Rhoda.

Magic Mirror re-works the central theme into the perfect tune to strut down the street looking sexy too, while stopping to admire yourself in every window you strut by as the vocals come back in to state "You're the one that plays the game."

Leaving For The Party is perfect to sashay across your living room while primping yourself ready to go have a ball at the party. Dance Alone is what you do in the mirror just before leaving for said soiree practicing your most seductive moves as the lounge jazz gets you in the right mood.

Living The Highlife is a cool slice of cocktail funk for sipping some dubonnet too with a nice squiggly funky guitar solo.

Circle Dance has brass stabs intertwining with the gentle caress of the bassline and some very upbeat piano as no doubt a rather salacious dance takes place.

Cocktails For two sounds like they are Bloody Mary's being drunk on the morning after the night before as you try to clear the fog and remember what really happened last night as you drift on into a daydream style reverie.

This album sounds far more laidback than libidinous, but if you love soundtrack mellow jazz funk this album hits those sorts of spots.
