Review: 'DEATH CAB FOR CUTIE'
'THE SOUND OF SETTLING'

-  Label: 'FIERCE PANDA'
-  Genre: 'Indie' -  Release Date: '23rd August 2004'

Our Rating:
Another prime example of traditional and honest indie/pop from the Ben Gibbard-fronted; Seattle based quartet.

The perils of old age and the regrets that are natural corollary of it are dissected with soothing and laid back vocals provided by Gibbard and helped along in no small way by timely and rhythmic hand clapping coupled with catchy “bah, bah, bahs”.

‘The Sound Of Settling’ has been tactically extracted from “Cutie’s popular album; ‘Transatlanticism’. The enviable ability of Death Cab For Cutie to serve up depressing and dour subjects in a sprightly and appealing manner has won them many plaudits. Most noticeably of late from Blink 182 who have kindly invited Death Cab to join them in a jaunt around the UK, taking in several super-sized arenas. I'm sure they'll survive too.
