Our Rating:
GINA CUTILLO struts her stuff on the cover of her debut album "For the love of C....."

Wielding a guitar she's not afraid to use, our Gina's all about power chords , power ballads and uninspiring power rock in general. Sounding like a cross between Meredith Brooks and a less accomplished Alanis Morissette, and looking like Katie Melua after a vampire slaying, she is ready to rock. Oh Goody.

Inspired by PJ Harvey, after hearing the "Rid Of Me" album at a party, she gushes:"everything stopped, I was blown away and listened intently to every chord and vocal stretch." The next day she bought the album and her first guitar. This comparison, however, stops right there.

Hailing from long Island, New York, Gina's songs are about romanticism, eroticism and self forgiveness. Opening track "Another Way" lacks volume and aggression plus the band seems to be playing in a different room, "Feel The Same" the single to be released is pure soft rock, all tranquil melodic tune and pleasant enough but that's very much all there is.

"Kind" is a horribly clumsy mess. With the album covering standard rock mores, standard themes and predictably standard mistakes, Gina is no rock Goddess.

"Pieces Of You" and "You To Hold" are better pop tunes and are highlights on this album . But the lowlights continue, running away with themselves after a while. "I, I, I" and "Set Yourself Free" are just average at best, and I'm being kind in both cases. "Still Believe" ends the whole terrible affair and the less said about this cliched soft rock nonsense the better, really.

This album is fraught with average tunes and criminally basic, aimless arrangements. Take the guitar away from Gina and you get another stock-in-trade female vocalist, and not a very good one at that. Probably best to take away the mic too, while you're at it.
