The 7th studio album by four Madrid-based musicians shows that they refuse to allow the 2020 lockdown and aftermath to darken their mood. After 15 years together they retain an optimistic spirit and still like to party.
That said, the mood is not entirely upbeat. It begins with affirmative chanting and some jaunty trumpet on Every Dog’s Day and closes with the gentle acoustic ballad Last Lick Of Light.
In between there’s a Cajun flavour to Donna Lola where Cathy Jordan guests on vocals and the sole cover is that of James Taylor’s Carolina On My Mind.
The variety is a strong point and the focus never strays from an unpretentious feel good factor.
