The Lord Of Chaos EP is the latest single by the original line-up of Killing Joke of Jaz Coleman, Geordie Walker, Big Paul Ferguson and Youth and is the legendary band's first new studio material in seven years.
Lord Of Chaos sounds like classic Killing Joke , it's heavy and hard hitting and with a message about the mess we are currently in and how so many of our systems have failed in the last three or four years, this sounds every bit as full on as they have always sounded, the pounding beat and solid bassline that just doesn't let up are in place, as Jaz's vocals just ram home the message, that we all need to be listening too, as we figure out ways to make the systems work for the many and not just the few.
Total sounds like it's built around another towering bassline from Youth and Big Paul's imperious drumming as Geordie's guitar is crunchy and accentuates Jaz's vocal message, this is uncompromising and stands against anyone who still believe a word the government or mass media says as they hope you don't blindly conform.
Big Buzz (Motorcade Mix) sounds like an industrial club mix to fill the dancefloor at your favorite Industrial club, it also in places feels rather poppy as that unremitting beat keeps on coming at you. The original version of Big Buzz and final song Delete can be found on Killing Jokes last album Pylon.
Delete In Dub (Youth's Disco 45 Dystopian Dub) starts slowly and sounds a bit like Asian Dub Foundations more drum and bass tunes and as such is dancefloor ready and shows of Youth's strengths as a re-mixer par excellence. This is dark dank and just a little bit disturbing and so totally in tune with our times.
