Review: 'In The Forest'
'These four Walls'

-  Label: 'Last Night From Glasgow'
-  Genre: 'Indie' -  Release Date: '25.11.22.'

Our Rating:
In The Forest come from Bedfordshire and are two sisters and their other halves, produced by Rob Eveling, They are Bob, Becky, Rachel and Alex who are based in and around Hemel Hempstead.

This opens with the mellow sounds of Waiting For The Call that takes the opposite approach to The Clash, in telling you not to hear the call, this has a very Crosby Stills Nash & Young style feel to its gentle folk rock.

On The Run is gently strummed with the feel of something that Kate and Anna McGarrigle might have sung with their hubbies.

Stay Dry is middle of the road folk rock for walking in the rain, that has a very good New Orleans style piano solo as the quartet switch singers.

Whitewash is very sparse mandolin led story song, with close harmony vocals, with a sadness that's hard to get away from, as that thin layer of Whitewash chips away at them.

Sailing Out with calm gentle piano, pleading sad vocals about everything falling apart, a relationship dissolving in recriminations, lies, anger, that are the polar opposite of the calm uncluttered music and singing.

Tired has flames licking up the sides of the evocative piano, as she's finally had enough and needs to move on, from the tatters of what once was, is no more.

OT To Be is a slow strummed song about knowing your pregnant, how the feelings are taking over your life.

Home is gently pensive, slightly quicker, with plenty of feeling with hope that everyone has somewhere to call home. This is still mellow very considered, seeking peace harmony with happiness.

Means To An End is an ethereal folk piano tune of utter beauty an gentle intent. Light That Shines is the most poppy song on the album with a gently building chorus that feels perfect to sing along too, this was the first single from the album. It has enough of a gospel feel to live up to the title.

Liquid In Form is a languid country song of the being on the road with bruised vocals and some electric slide guitar, to give this an old blues type feel, but with loads of embellishments added, to fill out the mix including some church organ and violin.

The album closes with the slow beautiful For The Boys that is like a lullaby for the new babies welcomed into the bands family, very gentle, perfect for rocking the little ones to sleep
