Dylan Jakodsen, who has been named as "One to Watch” by the Nashville press, says of his post Covid release: “This is meant to be a record for everyone of all ages. Simple. Honest. Hopeful.”
He lets rip with the kind of mangled vocal gymnastics and faux emotional intensity usually associated American rock icons like Axl Rose, Kid Rock or Jon Bon Jovi.
The mindfulness mantras come thick and fast, revolving around platitudes for positive thinking such as Don’t give up……keep the faith….. life can be beautiful……we only got one life, et cetera, et cetera. This is country-rock cranked up to stadium size proportions. This is America.
You might buy into all this relentless I feel good, glory days baloney but it depresses the hell out of me to think this might be someone’s idea of affirmative music.
