Our Rating:
Drag On Girard is the latest album by Philadelphia's Purling Hiss that is the project of Mike Polizze this is the band's latest album this is perfect if you like wailing walls of feedbacking distorted guitars.

This explodes out of the speakers with Yer All In My Dreams that has a commercial Sonic Youth style sonic assault, with sweet vocals, as the tsunami of guitars rage against the world, they reflect on just who all their friends are, in there dreams, hopes that aren't dashed by the wailing soloing guitars.

Something In My Basement would be on the soundtrack of a slacker horror film, as the dweeb at the centre of everything is afraid to go down to the Basement, as he has heard weird noises, like clattering guitars, cymbal shattering against the walls noises, as they just want to get away but are too stoned to move out of the house, just complaining to their equally disheveled, spaced out friends, who just want to argue over whose better Steelpole Bathtub or The Melvins yet again.

Baby has guitars that wail like they are in the throes of the terrible twos, as the sweet vocals struggle to be heard over all the screaming guitars, as you wail in anguish as you realize that girl you had a one nighter with is pregnant and wants to keep the Baby.

Out the Door is what you plan to do after getting the news relayed in Baby, this is slower like you're thinking through how to get the hell out. As the guitars explode like you've taken a battering ram to that door, hitting it even harder than the drums are being pummeled, the distortion is raging and you really have to choose whether you stay or go.

When The End Is Over has a Rain Parade style intro before it becomes more like a laid back Sebadoah song, you can sway along to this, as the guitars squiggle away over the heartfelt lyrics, that the soaring controlled guitar solo goes over.

Stay With Us is a fast and furious plea to make sure you don't check out before you should, so put aside your differences and just go on and Stay With Us.

Drag On Girard isn't about the current US Drag controversy, but is certainly Pro Drag and not anti, this doesn't drag at all, as the cacophonous guitars splutter all over the place like they are walking in 8" Stiletto's and a far too tight pencil skirt tottering about hoping not to crash, but instead to make it through the night in one piece, without succumbing to the American ruse.

The Album closes with Shining Gilded Boulevard has a welter of guitars screeching like the tyres of a getaway car careening down that Shining Gilded Boulevard, as the vocals come in and sound double tracked, as this tale unfolds sweetly among the raging noise as he tells you everything that can be told before they have one last immense climactic guitar freak out.
