Fat Chance is the third album from Chicago based noise monsters Mr Phylzzz who are Clinton Jacobs walls of guitars and Danny Sein on insane drum mauling's plus the odd guest. The album was recorded in four days at Electrical Audio Studios.
The album roars out of the gate like the tricked out, suped up Pontiac Grand Am the opener's wheel spinning introduction is about, it slams that transmission, as the tricked out, screamed vocals are in pain at not having the hottest rod on Lakeshore Drive, while dreaming of smoking everyone on the racetrack.
Dirty Hands is full on grunge, pummel your hands and mind in the mire of desperation, when your ignored, how on earth you could ignore this immense noise, as you quake at the massive riffage, the drums try to destroy your sanity, if you like heavy distorted grinding biker rock, or loud grungy rock you need to listen to this.
Damp has a solo drum intro before the guitar starts wailing in pain, distressed ready to rumble, as the yelped vocals scream through the walls at you, while pattern repeats, shifts, mutates, shattering in your brain.
Modern Life is heavy riffage with screamed vocals against super odd breaks. Insisting that the guitars persist, laying to waste any sanity you have left, speedy needy but never weedy, whatever they are Insisting on, you better make it happen, by buying this album, anything else would be criminal.
The album closes with Pick Scrape along that fretboard get the odd sounds around the pickguard as the cymbals crash in, as you wait for it to kick off, but when, well in a deranged sort of way it reverberates around the idea of freeform improvised grunge anguished experimentation.
