Review: 'JNA'
'W.W.B.D.'

-  Label: 'Strawberry Hill Records/Bandcamp'
-  Genre: 'Soul' -  Release Date: '4.8.23.'

Our Rating:
W.W.B.D.? is the first mini album by JNA whose debut ep last year I Have Good Taste But I Like You caused a bit of a stir, this time she's enlisted Narada Walden to co-write and produce a couple of the songs. I have no idea what W.W.B.D. stands for but please guess away.

The Ep opens with Wasted On A Dream that reworks Earth Wind & Fires Let's Grooves bassline with added brass with crystalline vocals giving this a funky high end cocktail dance party feel to it.

So Cliche is breathy vocals over another imperious bassline as we all get on down and try not to laugh at those plastics who fulfil all the cliches that the super cool folks manage to avoid while grooving the night away once more.

Glitter Rain the first of the songs written with producer Narada Walden is also the point that Auto tune appears, it's used minimally thankfully, as this anthem for the champagne lifestyle gets going, the strings add a nice touch as the backing vocals just encourage us all to have a fabulous time dancing round to this as she names Chaka Khan and sadly Michael Jackson on this super catchy modern soul pop banger.

Love Like Yours has a super slow bassline swathed in strings and glorious, lush vocals for another lover who is no longer in your life, but they made you lose your mind while they were around. This is for lovers of slow jams with sultry vocals.

Gonna Fly uses a pulsating beat with what sound like backwards synths that JNA sings over like a late 80's disco diva, as she tells you all they ways you failed to please her, she no longer needs your validation, as all sorts of phased shifts happen, your life has led you onto the dancefloor of her desire.

The ep closes with the second Narada Walden production Stars Are On Our Side that feels like a totally glossy production to lure you into JNA's world, a place you may feel comfortable in as long as you can satisfy her desires the Stars Are On Our Side tonight I guess you'll be very happy about that.
