Review: 'RECIPROCATE'
'Soul to Burn'

-  Label: 'Gringo Records'
-  Genre: 'Rock' -  Release Date: '15th December 2023'

Our Rating:
To call Reciprocate a super-group is a bit of a stretch given that the trio made up of musicians from obscure UK indie bands.

Band leader Stef Kett was with Shield Your Eyes as was drummer Henri Grimes while bassist Marion Andrau has played with The Wharves and Underground Railroad.

With tongue firmly in cheek, their Nottingham record label calls them ”The 2nd greatest 3-piece since the Four Tops.”

Their second LP is ragged hotchpotch of musical influences with a healthy mix of garage punk, blues and old school rock’n’roll. Stone Trough, for instance, proves an affection for Captain Beefheart’s Magic Band and citing inspirations from Taste era Rory Gallagher and Lightning Bolt shows they are taking cues from the masters.

It’s all very raw, immediate and messy but this is just how rock should sound.
