Review: 'DI MICELE, ALICE'
'Interpretations Vol 1'

-  Label: 'Alice Otter Music'
-  Genre: 'Folk' -  Release Date: '16th February 2024'-  Catalogue No: 'AO117'

Our Rating:
“I sometimes feel like a jazz singer in a folk singer’s body” says New Jersey born singer/songwriter/guitarist Alice Di Micele.

She brings this split personality to bear on an album’s worth of cover songs. It follows on from 16 albums of almost all original music she has released since 1988.

She started learning songs that she had always loved during lockdown so we get fairly straight versions of tunes by Neil Young, Kate Wolf, Reverend Gary Davis, Christine McVie, Tom Petty, Abbey Lincoln, The Grateful Dead and ...erm...Sting.

It’s all done in the best possible taste with obvious respect for the originals to ensure there are no alarms and no surprises.
