Our Rating:
Who Does The Music Love is a 12" single by Outer World the synth pop band from Lawrence Kansas, who are a duo of Tracy Wilson and Kenneth Close. The single was recorded while Tracy was recovering from the effects of Long Covid and figuring out if she could still sing or not.

The A side of the album opens with Drum The Beat a dreamy almost shoelace song of hope for better things, as the organs and synths weave together, before the guitars clash bringing more of an edge to things.

Flower Gunpowder has downbeat drums, set against drilling noise synths for the gauzy vocal, to wonder how we can live in a world more in thrall to flowers than gunpowder, as they believe that the end of times, are being met by a new beginning, the only worry is what sort of world is being created.

Forms Of Knowing feels familiar from its almost Silver Apples style intro, while they steal a classic Chris Cacavas keyboard line, on this very catchy song, that breaks into a noise intrusion before bringing the Guitars and keys back in, for Tracy's vocals to dance around.

Have feels musically sparse as they ask for a constructive way forward, as the glitches match the disjointed nature of our times. As all sorts of spacey sounds adorn the vocal melody. Eventually the guitars explode in carefully constructed bursts.

The B side opens with The Message Is The Message that has a 70's synth pop sound, with chamber pop elements as they make clear we need to be careful of the signals being sent out.

Outer World is a super catchy synth pop song, that Should have you singing along with it quickly, I love the music, who does the music love, well OUTER WORLD of course, this is just a brilliant pop song.

The single closes with Loteria as they hope to hit the jackpot with this record, as Japan influenced synths float across your speakers as the breathy vocals entrance you.
