Our Rating:
With All The Other Ghosts is the debut album by Edinburgh based folk act Boulder Fields who are the current band of Cam Fraser who was one of the main members of The Cateran and Borrowed Books before spending time playing in Tad, The Proclaimers and Grant Hart. Cam's compadres in Boulder Fields are Suzy Cargill, Aly Barr, Ritchie Werner and Jamie Watson who also helped Mix the album with Ritchie producing it at B & B studios

The album opens with Conmemorativo with burnished vocals with sweet harmonies, working over the heavily strummed acoustic guitars that remind me of Walking Wounded, they no longer care who they are talking about.

Measures is a restless insomniacs thought processes laid out, trying to figure out how to get enough breathing space, the acoustic is picked at in ringing tones between the strummed main tune, how far apart have they become and can you Measure it accurately.

Wipe Out The Stars and pour him another pint of Mild for this gently wistful song. Horse In A Sling has a slight Spanish inflection to the guitar work as the protagonists world falls apart, like A Horse In A Sling being lowered into a ship being carted off to war.

Strings has a heavier more straining at the leash feel, a pugnacious argument heading towards a messy conclusion.

Rescue Dog is sad and forlorn as that Rescue Dog that brought you so much joy has left for Doggy heaven, the gentlest of organ parts helping him along on his way.

Take Off and she's gone 10000 miles away, she has gone about as far from you as she can, accept it and move on, she ain't ever coming back to you again, the pain of the parting is brought through the subtle guitar playing over the soft shoe shuffle drumming.

Like A Knife cutting through time, making you ponder what has gone wrong, can you move on, or will you forever be chasing that one elusive Al Stewart song that takes all your pain away.

Can't Even Say just what went down, how you ended up here, or what you could possibly do to repair all the damage, among the quiet contemplative playing, just find a way to express all those painful feelings.

Marieke is a song I'd like to dedicate to my old friend Chris Smith whose wife Marika recently lost her long hard fight against the fate she had been trying to beat the odds on, but Cancer doesn't like to lose, this song has the faith they needed to keep fighting trying to survive, no justice to stop the inevitable hole opening up.

Wool Pulled Down right over your eyes, how can you miss what was going on, this is spare middle of the night thoughts for the loss you feel.
