Review: 'Tears Run Rings'
'Everything In The End'

Our Rating:
Tears Run Rings are back with the bands fourth album in a fifteen-year career for Laura Watling, Matthew Brice, Dwayne Palasek and Ed Mazzucco who recorded this in the bands home studios in Portland and San Francisco.

The album floats into view on a raft of upbeat gauzy atmospheric strings with cocooned vocals of Happiness 8 a mellow mood enhancer.
Helios Helada has narcoleptic vocals, breathily expansive guitar figures woven within strings co-dependently shimmering gloss dreamily.

XO is a 6-minute exploration of the wonders of drinks with XO on the labels and of course XO sauce, how you can dreamily put them together, so that combining Martell and chicken in XO sauce becomes the glue to your relationship, they find each other a heavenly match, musically and culinarily richly enhanced by listening to this while you eat.

Another Life has them trapped inside a video game with ever present strings, like warm winds blowing through sirocco like, you wait for that meeting that changes your life entirely, transformed into a dark filmic world of Scarlet & Violet evolving for longer than the hours you are prepared to wait for that heartbeat to lessen.

Within gently sparse cymbals and snare, a clear voice lays out its imprint, guitar and bass waft around your head, am I allowed to touch, consent is requested for closer interaction, supplications of gently caressing sounds.

Abandon has never felt more restrained than this, the shaken dreams explored within the gentle pulsations, jangles of guitar, aware of boundaries coming down, carefully crafted this is no manic Abandon this is far more transcendent.

How Will We Know how many layers are on this recording, I'd guess lots, she is seeking out some truth from a long investigation.

Tranquilo is if anything more tranquil than the rest of this super laid-back album, so float off in your meditation room, feel your chakras re-aligning, while this couches you in a hazy womb, you drift off to sleep.

They Have Lost Touch with reality, all that remains are dreams of better realities, different lives led in better happier ways, all reverb shimmer sophistication.

Since You've Gone our lives are filled with sadness, our gloom sound tracked perfectly, a fond farewell for those the band lost in the pandemic years, close friends, the hole can't be filled.

Nothing More can be added to this track, perfect dreamy chilled out gauze pop building majestically.

The album closes with Happiness 10 slowly creating a chimera of a life, happy to another two levels than Happiness 8, they've wonderfully found two more ways in which they can be happy.
