Feast Of Agony is the latest mini-album by Raymond Watt's long running solo project Pig that follows hot on the heels of the re-issue of Sinsation and his latest album Red Room. It was recorded at Rancho Apocalypse and Otherwise studios with Jim Davies as musical and production collaborator.
The mini-album opens with Heroin For The Damned a slice of classic industrial rock with the chanted Feast Of Agony leading us into the torment and damnation of a serious Heroin addiction, how you feel like one of the damned, once that addiction really takes hold. The narrated clips take you deep into the malaise the never-ending cycle of despair.
Fallout has the sort of orchestral industrial sound that Foetus invented, blasted depraved vocals make clear, that first shot is free, but it is of course the most expensive shot of all, you'll never stop paying for it if you say yes, acceptance of being dumb enough to accept the status quo, don't question everything and everyone around you, flesh falls off, decay made plain for all to see.
Comedown sounds like just that, although this is a Comedown from the horrors of war, rather than drugs, they twitch and sweat out the horrors they created, participated in, or saw. Musically this is downplayed slow ruminations.
Hand Of Mercy (Make The Cut) whisper it, shout it loud, you want some mercy, to gain a little forgiveness, for all the sins you've committed. Crushing brutal riffs exert the punishment you hoped to escape.
The Ratchet Effect whispers despair into your ear, time to admit to all the woe you leave in your wake, this slowly builds one ratch at a time.
The album closes with Baptise Bless & Bleed (Red Line Remix by Jim Davies) a slow march to the altar, making sure you receive your guarantee of rapture, being baptised, Michelle Martinez gospel flavoured backing vocals work similarly to Ofra Hazra's with Sisters Of Mercy helping to elevate this dark goth elegy.
