Our Rating:
Balaam And The Angel have released this 12" Single of the band's first new material in over 30 years ahead of a UK Tour in November.

It is great to have Balaam And The Angel back, they were a great live band in the 80's and early 90's, more than holding their own when I saw them open for Iggy Pop and a good amount of other shows. They are still the original trio of the Morris Brothers Des, Jim and Mark, they recorded the 12" Single at Oxygene studios Manchester with Christoph Bride producing.

The ep opens with Feel The Silence dark alternative rock, full of anger and bile in the lyrics, the state you've allowed things to get into, Prince of darkness hand invisibly on the tiller, almost morse code like guitar runs, the villain tears his hair out in the night, vampiric behaviour ensues.

Dancing Senseless goth twists of old. Underhand goings on, bending and breaking all the rules, stealing cheating murdering, when will it stop.

Forces Of Evil is an anthem for our times, the band may have started writing this in the bands original 80's heyday, only finishing the song several decades later, but it perfectly fits the bile and false narratives we are surrounded by, the allegedly religious freaks claiming God is on there side, despite breaking every commandment he ever decreed. A song encouraging us to tear down the false prophets, stopping the Forces Of Evil rampaging across our planet.

After Life is as much, the shock of having a band that has had its own After Life, they seem to hope they will have when leaving this realm, this is a call to arms, for all of us to re-connect and come together again, I hope to do just this at the forthcoming live shows for which this should sound suitably anthemic.???
