Our Rating:
Sassyhiya are the sound of Camberwell Now! Take You Somewhere is the four piece's debut album. Sassyhiya were created by Kathy Wright and Helen Skinner from Barry the band, in there flat in Camberwell during lockdown, they have since added Pablo Paganotto and Neiloy Mookherjee to complete the band.

The album opens with Boat Called Predator they cut down Rhododendrons, taking us on a trip to the outer wilds of Scotland, a strange bloke towing a Boat Called Predator, causing them to write down their thoughts on this, making it into a nicely wonky indie-pop tune, for the mysteries of Scottish predation.

I Had A Thought and turned it into a gentle song, with sylph-like rising guitar line, they try to figure out what's in your head, whatever that thought might be, you could easily find it hidden on Camberwell Green.

Kristen Stewart is a song of lust and praise for one of the bands biggest feminine pin-ups, echoes of Phranc's Everywhere I Go (I Hear The Gogo's), they drool over all the things Kristen does, to get them hot and othered, especially seeing her driving a Porsche down the Old Kent Road, I hope close The Dun Cow and Samuel Beckett.

Thank You And Goodbye they want you out of their lives, to be totally ghosted, you no longer see eye to eye, they have obviously been arguing, should they claim to live in Grove Park and sound posh, or stick with Camberwell, no matter what proclamations you come out with, she won't be swayed.

Puppet Museum is a perfect place for a date, sounding all Dolly Mixtures going snarky sober Gymslips fun, for a post punk date, good bouncy fun you can be my puppet.

Crayon Potato is Kathy and Helen's cat, a fun song of praise and love for all the things Crayon Potato likes and dislikes, listed like the cats very own Bumble profile.

Take You Somewhere they play organs with views over Dog Kennel Hill, dreaming far away, lilting summer holiday song, a happily delivered invite to fun by the sea.

Perennial is the slowest darkest walk, across those Perennial events scarring the landscape, glimpses into her dark green world, flashes of modernised Re:Search style, South London indie wonderment, epic like Slapp Happy with Trumpets seeping from collective walls.

Let's See What We Can Find they want something small, a personal gift, to be kept for ever, they have searched high and low, all through East Street market, you never know what you'll find there, an adventure for the two of you.

On Our Way they are going to go on a journey beyond the end of Lordship Lane, a place of fine guitar figures, harmonious vocals, staring out the window, flashes of images drive along on a wave like rhythm.

Try Try Try they never walk down Coldharbour Lane, they are on the edge of despair, making amends for all the niggling annoyances, the petty stupidity that only deeply calming music can solve.

You Can Give It (But You Can't Take It) a typical Camberwell Kitchen sink drama, giving it all the lip, but never able to take the retort, Dainty this ain't, a perfect slowly building rage to end a relationship along with this album you need to hear.
