Intuition is the fifth album by Bern's premier garage rockers The Jackets, Produced by Jim Diamond at Strawberry Studios in Bern that band are Jackie Brutsche, Samual Schmidiger and Chris Rosales, with stunning artwork by Olaf Jens that the vinyl is worth getting just to own the artwork, let alone the great music being put out on Portugal's premier exploitation garage punk label Chaputa Records.
The A-side opens with Crossing Streets a cool, slice of garage rock for a couple who split at the crossroads while evoking Shocking Blue. Jackie tries to figure out what went wrong.
Ours Forever has a searing guitar line for all the intrigue going on in the lyrics, for this tryst with someone who's already taken. No regrets for the fun of that one night.
Gambling Town is what happens in darkened bars in Bern, can you get anymore broken, will you spin that wheel once more. Sirens blare you might need a wheelspin turn to escape the clutches of your habit.
Coco Loco is what you've gone, totally out there on the floor, doing the things that you only do while totally Coco Loco as Hank Marvin has a guitar solo stolen from his clutches, damn that hot chocolate is dangerous stuff.
Can't Take It Back is a slow starting song of bitter regret for your trespasses, that works like a slightly darker The Courettes, who they shared a 7" single with, Jackie has lost her leash, wild guitars leading her on.
The b side opens with Lies an angry brawl of a song, it's all, gone wrong, they are finished, she's outta there. She ain't listening to another word you say.
I Tried really she did, but of course it was no good, it all echoes around the room, fuzzed up, ready to move on, don't come calling at midnight no more.
Intuition tells you that Link Wray is the key to life, she knows you no longer believe in the power of garage rock to give you all you need. Go on give in, don't run away.
One Step Ahead is where she wants to be, she will do it her way, she will take her vitamins and show you what she's got yee ha.
The album closes with Master Plan to make a classic biker rock anthem, for that man with a plan, you know it goes wrong, her radar has noticed what's wrong, with that wise man and his so-called Master Plan to evade any thoughts of wearing golden earrings. Before they go acoustic folk gang for the outro like a garage rock Weavers devolving with every false ending.
