Mother are a Belgian Black Metal trio who specialize in immersive 40-minute-long songs II is the bands second album released on Consouling Sounds records, the trio are Lynn Claus, Toon Soete and Tuur Soete.
According to my computers music player this cd's one track is by Quincy Jones featuring Marc Almond, which is as far from the truth as you can get. This brutal as you like black metal screed II by Mother gets blasting at your ears, a true tsunami of pained screamed vocals, encased in raging in the pits of hell guitars, bowel replacing blast your brains drums, then 3 minutes in a little soft respite, before the rage returns to rearrange your perceptions.
It takes me about 4 minutes to start being able to comprehend the vocals as the best quiet part allows the thoughts of the descent into the morass of pain and sorrow expand on the collapsing cacophony of the message, they are sending to their mother, need to be comforted, screamed and bellowed like the worst terrible twos tantrum amplified to infinity.
The maelstrom guitars clawing at your brain, kneeling before the throne, you worship in the only ways you can while prostrate, you stumble away barefoot through the dirt, cataclysmic doom march urges dissipation, moments of quiet contemplation, until the rage erupts around you, making you shiver in despair, hold your breath in hopes of the love you crave, from the heart of the rage.
Slow guitar tolls like bells, waiting for the bass to intensify emotions, whispered asides, terms of endearment Flemish dreams of mother really loving you. Wind howls in the distance, explosive drums disintegrating, squirming effusion guitars, last embittered words of love and supplication roar into your cortex, like this will last forever, like your love for you Mother dies.
