Review: 'SHAM, THE'
'GOOD BYE BABY'

-  Genre: 'Rock' -  Release Date: '10th October 2004'

Our Rating:
Straight from the off, I knew I was going to dislike this. With the worst name I’ve heard in a long time, this debut single from THE SHAM sees the band deliver a weak, formulaic piece of throwaway pop.

Don’t get me wrong, it’s not as if the guys don’t show some talent. For a kick-off, it’s obvious the band can play. The main problem being, 'Goodbye Baby' is so over-produced it’s impossible to hear anything exciting happening beneath the generic pop/rock sheen.

The six-piece ‘multi-international band’, 2 of them are Scottish apparently!, write, record, mix and produce all their own material, and for that alone they deserve credit. Unfortunately, on this evidence, they don’t look like backing it up with what matters.

A cruel person would say this sounds like a Robbie Williams b-side (I’m showing my age here), but I wouldn’t. I don’t even think it’s that good. If this is the future of rock'n'roll, God help us.
