Review: 'MC16'
'Machine Code'

-  Label: 'Neverlution Records'
-  Genre: 'Punk/New Wave' -  Release Date: '14.2.25.'

Our Rating:
Machine Code is the new album by agit-punk upstarts MC 16 who recorded the album with Dave Draper in the production hot seat. This trio who started in Wolverhampton recorded at the Old Cider Press studios in rural Worcestershire and fuelled on Scrumpy recorded Machine code. The trio are Duffy, Quinn & Carson who may have been around the odd block over the years.

The album opens with Shoot Em Up an angry punk rant at the insanity of modern times, the latest leader starts a war with just one supporter, they look at the madness of the British empire in the 21st century, while sounding like they have the harsh love hate relationship, of loving Britain and hating the British state, repeating ancient mistakes, perpetually fighting the same war, over and over again for no good reason.

One From Another takes an indie-punk guitar line, looking at how your teacher became your dealer, will you still be punk in court, harsh street lessons, learnt from Ivor Godiva and other Brum legends.

Recent single Ground Control searing guitars, dripping with criminal angst, caught in a stranglehold, Tom is caught in some major flash floods, trying to avoid a permanent vacation.

Can't Get No Fun livid working class Chav distractions, Clashing dubbed concerns smelling spiffs, who put the wrong bins out again. Moaning estate concerns, can't get no fun no more.

OHternative you should have been weirder, coulda got more feedback, more clattering drums, hate being compared to Corporal Machine & The Bombers rather than The Fall or Sleaford Mods, loving the Archers rather than Frank Carter.

Data Donors are taking your data one slice at a time, Data punk in the 21st century, syntax quarantining your mp3's again, no more keeping your data to yourself these days, whatever next, you'll think your worthy of new friend request, X marks your demise.

Tourist skank down, Dub punk for the modernist tourist, going on a late-night cabaret, bit coin rave up's Oi! Oi!

Polytechnic Wired-up tribute to education policy in times gone by, were they a good thing or a bad thing, didn't do them any harm, how many degrees did it take to become a decent post punk band then, didn't you get everything from that place then.

Bricks And Martyrs we've shared a few, taking all the medicine again, they are as they have always been Sick, living the Stay Sick dream.

Workers 40 is a great shout out, righteously angry tribute, to terrible political struggles of years gone by, From Ravenscraig and Merthyr to battling the Iron disgrace, up the workers and their hidden tracks of, encouragement to press the stop button, in case your killed by a bad case of offensiveness, too much trash talking and killing you.
