Bearsuit Records breakout artist Eamon The Destroyer has released, two of the Radio Sessions he performed recently, promoting his previous albums A Small Blue Car and They'll Be Piranhas. The first session was on the Phil Vickery show on BCFM 93.2 last September and the second session was on Wi Roeven & Jeroen Frencken's show on Majjem Radio in den Netherlands last December.
The first session opens with Nothing Like Anything a nice, stripped feel to this now very familiar tune, that shines differently, with the core acoustic guitar, some very James Whitaker style whistling, making for a very close and comforting love song, for the end of a long late night journey home, the mandolin towards the end, adds a folk edge not apparent on the original version.
Underscoring The Blues works a wonderful trick to being Chamber electronica, ambient chilled and still rather unsettling, synths quavering distinctly.
Bringing the first session to a close We'll Be Piranhas is suddenly lush Belle & Sebastian bucolic beauty, for this tale of the circus of life unfurls among the guide ropes, folky electronica and supple tender playing, evocative strings.
Silver Shadow calm serene memories of that glorious Silver Shadow, opening the second session, that Small Blue Car that is a long way from the first version of this song I reviewed, this brings out different sides to this now relaxed vignette.
Avalanche is slow motion falling into your yard, acoustics weave out the details, of the shooting star he will be, he Avalanches through your life, this builds a slight disturbed edge of synths circling the deep tympanic drums.
Choirmaster brings the second session to a close, sparing stripped back air, adds a sense of calm not on the previous versions, while they search for the real meaning of This Is It? Possibly to make beautifully relaxed music, that subtly gets a less beautiful message across.
