Our Rating:
Lethowsow is the debut solo album by one time member of The The and High Llama's Kelsey Michael. Now based in Cornwall Kelsey recorded the album with help from among others her co-producer Robin Tyndale-Biscoe, Greg Dyer, Ben Kypreos, Benjin Musiq (Benjin Pollock), Angeline Morrison, Maria Heseltine, May Robson, Treve Nicol in various locations in Cornwall.

The 26-minute-long album opens with Gri Maritha a soft piano led ballad, that is part Carpenters part Victoria Wood, a gentle song of love and wonder.

Music Of The Waves has very gently swelling organ and a chorale style feel of bucolic peace, sitting staring at the waves gently rolling in, you get more chilled and relaxed.

Mounts Bay Morning is a gloriously sun dappled easy listening song for the wonder of sitting looking at Mounts Bay down near Penzance, while sounding a bit like the New Seekers, this should be a hit on easy listening radio stations.

Tide Comes In is driven on by an insistent tambourine beat, that tide ebbs and flows and we all sing along to the chorus, while Kelsey looks at the financial desperation of businesses closing down, can this town survive the ravages of late-stage capitalism or will it be overwhelmed. Can they keep the paradise they live in, without meaningful work, with catchy songs like this anything's possible.

The Crossing has slow tones for that quick dash across to St Michaels Mount while the tide is low enough for you to walk along the causeway easily.

Swimming with the piano echoing around the room, before the harp gently ripples the water like the slowest breaststroke possible.

The album closes with Washing Line a slow beautiful song in praise of wash day and what you hang on that line, can you renew yourself simply by doing the washing and making everything pristine once more.
