This is the Remastered re-issue of Ex Norwegian's fourth and fifth albums from way back in 2013/4, fully remastered and ready for the ears of old and new listeners alike. Due to downloading madness on my end I've reviewed them the wrong way round, so I got to snort those Wasted Lines before getting all whacked out on Crack once more. The band for Wasted Lines was Fernando Perdomo, Roger Houdaille, Derek Cintron, Nicole Marcus, Lucia Perez and for Crack the band was Roger Houdaille, Lucas Querioz, Alex Ibanez, Derek Cintron and Michelle Grand.
The album opens with Your Own Swing a slightly fuzzy indie-pop love song with some gently treated vocals and clattering drums, they inform you that you are more than capable of being Your Own Swing in an onanistic fashion.
Bibi Kan Werk It is stripped back harmony vocal trippy indie pop, for things that haven't quite worked out, thankfully this isn't about a notorious politician. But it does have some foolish sounding effects.
I'm A Fighter, Not a Lover has Michelle laying it out how it's going to be, this relationship is more of a constant battle than a love in sadly.
Page To is a slightly off round of begging and pleading for the love you crave, scratchy guitars come and go slowly turning those pages while you seek out that saviour you crave.
Full Time Lover has Roger Houdaille spilling his guts on his knees saying anything and everything he thinks she needs to hear to love him. This is dreamy chamber psyche strings, breaking your defences down.
Say What You Want has the lovers entwined vocally, in sync with there desires, they beg each other to just Say What You Want, make sure your on the same page fully consensual, then you can just get what you want through the cascading drums and ecstatic guitar lines.
Some Misery indeed love sometimes is, which is why you need The Faces Demo Heads with its speed treated backing vocal yelps, drums and guitar battling it out.
Done it's over, time for the next adventure, let the strings draw you along, did you ever really feel how you claimed you did. What other song should end the album.
The bonus tunes are different to the original collectible cassette of the album, this time around they open with Something Unreal (2012 single Mix) this is upbeat poppy song of love and betrayal.
Aventura is a cool slice of frazzled indie pop, a song of lust and desire for yet another lady he wants to make his own.
Lydia is a hazy almost slacker love song of lust for the wonders of Lydia and what you want to do together. With Or Without Your Mind it's been one of those weekends, you're all frazzled, brains all over the place, whatever happened in the fog stays there, Fun and games both With Or Without Your Mind.
Bibi Kan Werk It Alternate version is all woozy regrets, like you've come back down and just need to make sense of what drove you out the door. Tavistock Rock is a pretty heady hit, Crystallized Movements Mind Disaster adjacent.
Holidaymaker has a summer fun vibe, almost sing along fun but with a few darker shambling twists for this live version.
It's Just Like A Girl is almost a toxic male manifesto, looking around trying to pull once more, but making all sorts of mistakes, cheesy lines thrown against the repeating organ lines, will the girl do what he wants or not.
Lztih 2102 is a sparse demo with a slow lyric drawing you into it all.
