Our Rating:
The World Is Yours is the second album by The Diaz Brothers the slightly Scarface obsessed quartet from Sunderland, plus one southern softie, the band were formed from the ashes of HDQ and these grizzled veterans are Dave Golledge, Neil Cox, Max Hakius, Callum Hewitt and Michael Jones who recorded the album at The Bunker in Sunderland with Phil Jackson producing.

The album opens with the dense guitars and strained vocals of Be My Drug, they are raging, needing more of that drug, go on help them keep the withdrawal pangs at bay, give in and let them have what they are begging for.

Hourglass Full Of Quicksand a very 21st century conundrum, set to a crunching riff and hard as nails drums, A deep familial relationship has fallen into the quicksand of life, the pain and distress of seeing a parent fade away before you into the mire of Dementia.

As I Tear brings the guitars under control, this seems more restrained yet builds imperiously, asking questions of the fool on the hill and all the problems he causes.

Ego seemingly one of the biggest problems of the modern world, how to keep people's ego's in check is discussed over the raging guitars crushing hard core drumming, that just won't accept what you think of as reality and a sense of self-importance.

Anxiety Landslide opens like a post hardcore Motorhead riff monster, all of life's worries get to you, you can barely leave home, all of life's anxieties threaten to come down on you, what can you do not to drown in it all.

Who Am I is an obvious question that may or may not have an obvious answer, this tries to come up with that answer over this slowly rising and falling almost Foo Fighters style modern rock epic, they hope they still have enough hope left to get to the answers they need.

The Great British Fake Toff is a urgent plea for sense to come back into politics and for everyone to wake up and smell the coffee, of the desperate need to stop listening to the apostles of hatred and division, to find a way for the ordinary man to fight back, taking back our country as the great multi-cultural place it's been since the Angles and Saxons first came together.

By My Side has the slowest intro, that quickly explodes, guitars come crashing in. He wants to get back the feelings he had when you were By His Side, he doesn't tell us why you walked, but he wants you back.

Departure Lounge has them ready to leave, to flea all the trouble and not face up to the consequences, but perhaps it would be better if they stayed and fought the good fight, they certainly have angry enough guitars and some nice harmonies to help sooth away the pain.
The album closes with the urgent rush of Blink and if you Blink in this case you might miss this crushed riff anthem for all the memories they have been left with.
