This is the debut album by London based Brazilian ghetto punks Fantazmaz who manage to stretch the 11 songs to a huge 16 minutes of music. Fantazmaz are Thami, Raf Oliver, Jamie Oliver and Chokito who recorded the album at Monolith Studios where Charlie Wilson Mixed and mastered it. The bands current tour includes an appearance at the Rebellion Festival next weekend.
The album fades in with ambient washes at the start of Are You Enjoying The Peaceful Skies with cool acoustic Brazilian guitar and the waves crashing in, before the single Dead On The Way Home rages out the speakers, with desperate throaty vocals and intense guitars frying our minds.
You Owe Me A Fortune is super speedy hardcore with backing vocal gang shouts, blitzkrieg guitars with super intense drumming from Jamie Oliver. Distortion wonders why the middle classes are so angry, when it is the working classes who have been trounced by modern practises, insane heavy hardcore rams the point home.
Bullet is the speed this band are travelling at, this has a grindcore guitar and bass riff with the guitars raging with splenetic energy, we all try to dodge the bullet that may be coming our way.
Pobreza Est Violencia is raging at all the senseless violence with some truly violent guitar mangling. Scars Of Downtown they are still traumatized by exposure to Petula Clark in childhood, they are in a hardcore rage to obliterates anyone in the way of them trying not to add to any of the Scars they have received downtown.
Corporate Behave is full of anger and bile at how the corporations mistreat us all, machine gun guitars strafe the corporate offices destroying all they see. Warheads is the longest song on the album at 2 minutes 25 seconds of spite and bile for anyone who wants to blast Warheads at anyone else, the bass undertow just helps nail the nasty edge this tune needs, along with the 5 second guitar solo. The album closes with Just Before Hell Comes Around that slows the rage down, making the vocals clearer yet still very intense.
