Tunnel back to a featureless mid nineties. Clear out the complexities of later fusion confusion, samples and so called cultural progress. In your minds eye hold an image of a 15 inch monitor with eight horizontal bands of coloured light, scrolling gently underneath the central cursor line. The chunks scull by in 2, 4, 8, 16 and 32 bar sections making discernible patterns of addition and subtraction that match the sounds you hear.
Don’t ask how derivative or done to death any of this is. Just let the image form and then fade, let the sounds swirl, blip and snitter around you. BY 2005 if a GCSE music teacher left her class for a couple of lessons to work out the basics of Steinberg Cubasics with some midi patches … this is pretty much what it would sound like. It's minimal and mathematical to a narcoleptic degree. Loops go on forever and beats are as unsurprising as you'll hear. Deliberate or not, lovingly retro or otherwise, for these jaded ears that isn’t sweet. You really would have a load more fun making your own. It ain't difficult kids. But your doodling will sound as great to you as this does to CORRUGATED TUNNEL.

The hard job for you, as it is for CORRUGATED TUNNEL, will be find enough other people to get enthusiastic. "Oh, yeh". They will say. "Yeh, cool, like Aphex Twin maybe … Are you out tonight?". Maybe that isn't fair, but I think it's how things go.
