Review: 'WE WILL BE PILOTS'
'THIS IS WHAT YOU FIGHT FOR'

-  Label: 'CAPTAINS OF INDUSTRY'
-  Genre: 'Punk/New Wave' -  Release Date: 'MARCH 14TH 2004'-  Catalogue No: 'CAPT020'

Our Rating:
London 4-piece WE WILL BE PILOTS have only been going for a year but admirably they’ve already mastered the difficult feat of being able to crash and burn their own songs. The ensuing aural carnage from the wreckage is only to be expected given the declaration that “[u]nlike those macho wankers in Top Gun, none of them are qualified jet pilots”.

Just the two tracks with which to take my breath away, tasters of the forthcoming 6-track ‘This Is What You Fight For’. Sonic Youth chiming guitar noise opens the account, paving the way for a Mark E. Smith style declaration that ‘We Are Not The Doctors’ and just under two minutes of ADHD channelled punk/metal. Given the track’s name a health warning sticker on the packaging would perhaps be superfluous but as I’m in favour of prevention rather than cure, please handle with care.

On track 2 the band advise us to ‘Pretend It Doesn’t Hurt’ but it does and how do I apply a plaster to internal ear bleeding? Not as immediate as Track 1 but no less effective in its skewered pogo punk noise that threatens to knock down a wall: you know that great big long one in China.
